Guangdong Lianjiang Nuclear Power Project Phase I Project No. 2 Cooling Tower Commences
At 9:58 am on August 17th, the second cooling tower of the Guangdong Lianjiang Nuclear Power Project Phase I, undertaken by China Energy Construction Anhui Electric Power Construction Second Company, began construction.
The project is located in Tianluoling, Cheban Town, Lianjiang City, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. It is planned to construct six CAP1000 million kilowatt level pressurized water reactor nuclear power units, using third-generation passive pressurized water reactor nuclear power technology. In the first phase, two 1.25 million kilowatt units will be constructed. Anhui Electric Power Construction Second Company undertakes the first phase of two cooling tower projects, which is the first nuclear power cooling tower in China to adopt seawater secondary circulation cooling technology. The drenching area is 20000 square meters, the tower top elevation is 218.7 meters, and the zero meter diameter is 174.552 meters. The No.1 cooling tower will commence construction on December 15, 2022.
After the project is completed and put into operation, the annual power generation will be approximately 20.367 billion kilowatt hours, which is of great significance for further optimizing the energy structure of Guangdong Province, ensuring energy security in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and accelerating the achievement of carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.
